Celebrating St Patrick’s Day and Seachtain na Gaeilge 2025!

24th Mar 2025

St Mary’s was filled with music and song, dance, prayer and poetry, fun and laughter - ceol agus craic - as we honoured and celebrated our beloved Patron Saint - Patrick - ahead of his feast day on 17th March, whilst also marking Seachtain na Gaeilge.

Children and staff certainly embraced the spirit of Lá Glas, proudly wearing various shades of green, as we shared in a true celebration of St Patrick and our language, culture, history, faith and school spirit. Thank you to our children and staff who contributed in a wonderful myriad of ways, as we celebrated the special life, work, prayer and legacy of Patrick.

Sharing the story of St Patrick, and how he returned to Ireland as a missionary to spread Christianity, whilst using the shamrock to teach about the Holy Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, continues to inspire us - most especially, Patrick's perseverance and faith. May we always strive to live, share, maintain and strengthen our precious and cherished traditions, heritage, culture and faith in our time, and beyond…

We are also proud to support the annual Seachtain na Gaeilge fortnight (running from 1 - 17 March) - a celebration of our Irish language, culture and heritage. Encapsulating the pride of the Irish language community, may we in St Mary’s continue to be inspired to immerse ourselves in our native tongue.

A special word of thanks to our Primary Seven girls for your creativity and hard work in preparing the video compilations (as below) and to our children and staff for sharing your wonderful gifts and talents at this special time.

Lá Fheile Pádraig sona duit…
