Comhghairdeachas le Muintir, Cairde agus Comharsana! - Seamrogá an Tí Mhóir - Rolla Onóra 2023
The children and staff of St Mary’s were delighted to welcome a very special group of visitors to our school in recent days, and to pay tribute: ‘Congratulations to Family, Friends and Neighbours! - Seamrogá an Tí Mhóir - Roll of Honour 2023’
Following the tremendous successes on the playing field at U13, U17 and Intermediate Championship, achieved over the previous two weekends, it was with much pride, joy and absolute delight, that our school community welcomed a group of players representing both the victorious U17 team and the 2023 Fermanagh Intermediate Champions!
On a morning of welcomes, it was a joyful, uplifting, humorous and inspirational gathering and coming together to acknowledge and celebrate the teams’ wonderful successes. The children and staff were most touched and impacted so positively by the players taking the time to visit our school, speak in such a motivational way to all of us, and demonstrate such kindness, respect and patience to everyone. Each and every one of the players who visited us are a credit to the Club.
It was an especially proud morning for some children and staff members who welcomed fathers, brothers, sons, uncles, cousins, nephews, former students, neighbours, teammates and friends. Congratulations and best wishes to each and every member of the three winning teams, along with coaches, back-room staff, families and friends. We thank you and all at Seamrogá an Tí Mhóir for honouring us with your presence, example and words of wisdom.
We hope you will enjoy sharing in our photographs and video of this special morning, and convey our appreciation to a number of our Primary Seven students and Ms O’Rourke, who compiled our video.
To complete our simple tribute, we would like to share the final verse of the poem - ‘Teemore’s Senior Championship Win 1983’ - as published in ‘Teemore Shamrocks GFC - The Story of a Football Club and its People 1888 - 2005’ (by Joe Cox and Hugh McGovern).
- ... ‘Once more they are County Kingpins, a title theirs of right,
With the Gold Cup on their sideboard beneath the Green and White,
A proud and glorious history with tradition to the core,
Sure the Kingpins of Fermanagh are the Shamrocks from Teemore.’
