Comhghairdeas! Division One Title Holders - 2024!

27th Jun 2024

Following our boys’ and girls’ tremendous successes earlier in the school year across many competitions in both hurling/camogie and Gaelic, Tuesday, 18th June was to provide a fitting climax and conclusion to a wonderful year’s playing of our national sports.

Páirc Bhruisceoir - Brewster Park - Enniskillen - home of Fermanagh GAA - was the perfect setting for the young Gaels from primary schools across the county to showcase their talent, skill, pride and passion in competing for the honours of four divisional finals on this Finals’ Day 2024, as organised by Cumann na mBunscol Fear Manach.

The girls and boys of St Mary’s were hoping to achieve the ‘double’ once again, following their attaining both titles in the Allianz Mini-Sevens competitions just a number of weeks, ago. And on this June day, just days prior to the Summer Solstice and the sun appearing at its highest elevation at Midsummer, the sun certainly shone brightly for our players and proud fellow pupils, teachers, staff, parents, grandparents and other special members of our families! Our girls were first to achieve the distinction of being crowned Division 1 winners when they proved too strong for a gallant opposition from St Ronan’s Primary School, Lisnaskea. This was a repeat of last year’s final and a magnificent feat for our girls in achieving back-to-back titles. Double delight was to become a reality when our talented boys followed with our second success on the day, achieving the mantle of Division 1 victors when playing St Paul’s Primary School, Irvinestown.

We congratulate all our girls and boys who played with skill, pride, resilience, determination and sportsmanship, throughout. We also say thank-you to parents, grandparents, family members and representatives from Teemore Shamrocks who travelled and provided welcome support, as ever, as our children from Primaries Four - Seven, and school staff, both teaching and non-teaching. We convey a special word of thanks to Mr Kavanagh who guided and managed our teams on this successful day.

We also pay tribute to Liam from AB Coaching who has attended our school diligently each week throughout the year, imparting his knowledge, guidance and coaching skills to all of our students across our seven classes, with the support of our local Club. Just a small number of days previous to 18th, as we said a fond farewell to Liam for this academic year, we shared our sincere appreciation for his work, friendship, loyalty and kindness to children and staff, alike. It was also wonderful to listen to Liam speak of the high esteem in which he holds the children and staff of St Mary’s, and to accept his gracious and kind words when complimenting our school and school community. Thank you, Liam.

We hope you enjoy sharing in our photographs and video and thank two of our boys from Primary Seven - Cahir and Rián - for your great video compilation!
