The children and staff of St Mary’s were delighted to gather together in recent weeks to convey thanks, appreciation and best wishes to a loyal, kind, humorous and hardworking gentleman and friend to our school, over many years.
It was with a great big collective smile and word of gratitude that we welcomed Derek Parton from the EA Schools Library Service based in Enniskillen Library, to our school gathering, ahead of his retirement at the end of June 2024. As a school community, it was wonderful to be able to pay tribute to Derek and to thank him sincerely for his many years of friendship, support, kindness and service to our school students and staff, and to present him with a small gift to mark his retirement. Derek shared with us the revelation that he has been working with the Schools Library Service for 46 years; undoubtedly, such a long, admirable and successful career will provide inspiration to many of us who were present.
We say thank-you, Derek, and wish you many years of good health, happiness and contentment in the years ahead.
