‘We Watch... We Wait... We Wonder... We Hope...’ - Season of Advent 2024
Advent is a special time in our Church calendar. It marks the beginning of the Liturgical (Church) Year and the four-week countdown to the feast of the Nativity - 25th December - when we remember and celebrate the birth of Jesus. Advent is the time when we prepare for and look forward to reliving this great event.
It is a time of prayer and hope, as we wait to welcome Christ once again into our hearts and into our lives.
Advent is a time of waiting. During Advent, we watch, wait and wonder as we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus.
During Advent, I will watch for...
During Advent, I will wait for...
During Advent, I will wonder about...
Please share in our Primary Seven students’ cherished and annual tradition of making the Advent wreaths for St Mary’s Church and for within our school and classroom. A wreath of greenery, adorned with four candles. A wreath which symbolises hope, peace, joy and love through those four candles, each representing a week leading up to the birth of Christ.
Jesus is the light of the world... and He calls us to bring His light to the world. During this Advent - the coldest and darkest time of the year - may our special Advent wreath, with its four candles, represent the light of Jesus in our hearts, homes, school and world...
’I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’
